A random element from the periodic table
Every slice is one of the 118 elements, from hydrogen to oganesson, in atomic order. Spin, and the pop-up gives the winner’s name, atomic number and category.
What the colors mean
- Alkali metals (red, 6)
- Alkaline earth metals (orange, 6)
- Transition metals (gold, 38)
- Post-transition metals (slate, 12)
- Metalloids (teal, 6)
- Nonmetals (blue, 7)
- Halogens (green, 6)
- Noble gases (violet, 7)
- Lanthanides (pink, 15)
- Actinides (magenta, 15)
Elements past 108 have only ever been made a few atoms at a time, so they take the category their place in the table predicts.
Ways to use it
- Quiz a class: spin, then ask for the symbol, the group or an everyday use.
- Hand out research projects so no one has to pick.
- Flashcards that shuffle themselves: say the name before the pop-up does.
- Pick a theme for a science fair, a lab night or a trivia round.
